The best bubble tea in Chatswood is a Taiwanese store called Yifang Fruit Tea. They use fresh fruit, and their drinks don’t taste overly artificial. They even have soy milk available too.
They’re just inside the Lemon Grove shopping centre (across from the T2 in Chatswood Westfield).
The coffee mousse brown sugar pearl latte is basically Yifang’s version of a dalgona (although interestingly they were very late to the trend). The coffee mousse is 100% coffee and very bitter, so make sure you shake it well before drinking.
The mousse’s bitterness offsets the sweetness of the brown sugar, so you end up with a drink that strikes a nice balance. The pearls were nice and soft as well.
For an extra dollar you can choose to have soy milk with most of the milk-based drinks - as someone who is slightly lactose-intolerant I love this and I don’t understand why more bubble tea stores don’t do it.
The coffee jelly tea latte tastes more like a milk tea with hints of coffee:
I was hoping for a stronger coffee taste from the jelly but this had quite a muted taste as well. Overall not quite as exciting as the coffee mousse drink, I think!
Our personal favourite is their green plum green tea (5.8). It’s not the same plum that you’d find in a grocery store, but a smaller asian variety. If you’ve ever tried umeshu, it has a very similar flavour to that.
My partner had his with a generous serving of almond jelly:
You can’t see it in the picture, but the drink even comes with two plums! They have a stone in the middle so are a bit hard to eat, but you can if you are determined.
I definitely recommend giving this one a try if you are looking for something different.
